Children have always liked to tell and be told stories.
This section contains stories from Kerry, Limerick, Louth and Donegeal. There are lots of stories about hidden treasure as well as a ghost story and another about a ship wreck. Also included are stories about the Banshee, Fairies and the Leipreachán, however they are not of the Hollywood variety, rather they are old Irish stories, recounted to children by their parents and grandparents.
These short stories may be helpful for planning story telling events on Play Day or National Recreation week. All the stories were taken from the Schools Manuscript collection.
